‘El Campanar’, the bell tower of Reus

The city's most iconic monument

Visit the main church and climb the stairs up to the Reus bell tower to contemplate magnificent 360 views of the city and the Costa Daurada

The Reus bell tower ‘El Campanar’ is the most iconic monument in town. A large Gothic and hexagonal tower attached to the Saint Peter Church, patron of the city. It is 12 meters wide and 62 meters high with seven floors covered with a cross vault and a total of 230 stairs.

The ‘Campanar’ inspired the brilliant architect Antoni Gaudí, the city’s most universal son. Gaudí put it as a model of a bell tower that perfectly shares the religious functions, civil use and also as an excellent point of surveillance. In addition, Gaudí recreated the design of the internal spiral staircase with the hollow shaft on the access stairs to the bell towers of the Sagrada Família.
