What to do in Castellvell del Camp, discover the most emblematic points of the town, the great products and the best local gastronomy

Castellvell del Camp is a town with more than 2,000 inhabitants, located a few kilometers from Reus and surrounded by nature, hills, residential areas and agricultural fields . It celebrates its Festival on July 26, for Santa Anna, and on January 22, for Sant Vicenç. One of the most characteristic celebrations is Festa de la Banya, organized every December 28th, Holy Innocents’ Day.

Excursion from Reus to Santa Anna chapel

Being so close to Reus, going to Castellvell is one of the favorite routes to do some sport. Walking or running, early in the morning or at night, the road that connects the two towns is always full of people going up and down.

From Plaza del Mercadal, in the center of Reus, it is about 4km in north direction until you reach the top of the hill where stands Ermita de Santa Anna. In less than an hour you can see the panoramic views of Reus and Costa Daurada from the viewpoint.

On the southwest side of the chapel you will find the runes of an Iberian settlement, which you can visit for free. In addition, you can always rest for a while contemplating the views in company of the wild cats that roam the surroundings.

 

Castellvell Olive Oil

Castellvell’s main product is 100% Arbequina olive oil produced by the Cooperativa Agrícola de Castellvell, which is certified as the Siurana designation of origin. A quality oil that can be purchased at the village farm shop, located on calle Sant Vicenç.

Another popular product of the town is the ‘coques de recapte’. Located at the entrance to the town, we find the Racionero Massagé pastry shop, where they make one of the best ‘coques de recapte’ on the Costa Daurada.

Regarding the gastronomic offer, the reference is Sanromà restaurant, recommended in the Michelin Guide. And to go for tapas and enjoy the fresh air, we have the La Caseta de les Piscines bar.

Local gastronomy

Among the best signature cuisine restaurants on the Costa Daurada, we find Restaurant Sanromà in Castellvell that offers daily or à la carte menus. Discover their dishes made with local products, which show the essence of Mediterranean cuisine and are a true tribute to Catalan cuisine.
