L’Hospitalet & Vall de Llors

Where the mountain becomes sea

Discover natural spaces of sea and mountains, charming villages and a monumental castle, an icon of Hospitalet de l’Infant

L’Hospitalet de l’Infant and Vall de Llors is in a privileged and strategic location, where the sea becomes a mountain and right on the border between Terres de l’Ebre and Camp de Tarragona. A unique position that allows you to enjoy exceptional viewpoints and postcard beaches. For this reason, Infant Pere built the monumental Gothic Hospital that gives the town its name.

A former meeting point for pilgrims and travellers, today it is also an obligatory stop for all nature lovers looking for Mediterranean landscapes, mountain routes, natural beaches and virgin coves.

What to visit

The most emblematic cultural and historical visit is the monumental Gothic Hospital, located in the center of town and a symbol of the town. Construction founded in 1344, recently renovated as the Coll de Balaguer Visitor Center. A space that explains the role of the old medieval hospitals and the specific importance of the castle of L’Hospitalet in the whole of Catalunya Sud.

The administrative headquarters of the area is in Vandellòs, where you can find the Molí de l’Olí stands out, headquarters of the brand new Oil Interpretation Center. In a nearby nucleus, Masriudoms, we find a beautiful Romanesque church from the 13th century. In addition to the cultural proposals, the great natural expansion of the term makes it an ideal place for hiking or mountain biking routes. Further on, numerous settlements populate the valley, such as Masboquera, the already mentioned Masriudoms, Remullà and other nuclei, now abandoned, such as: Castelló, Madevalentí, Fatxes and Gavadà, all of them of medieval origin.

L’Hospitalet de l’Infant has four large beaches with fine sand and transparent waters: Arenal, Punta del Riu, Torn and Almadrava. All of them have an environmental quality certificate and the first three also bear the Blue Flag. These are relaxing, natural and not very crowded beaches, one of which, El Torn, is nudist. The main activities are the coastal path that follows the coast through the GR92, the water activities around the Port and the exploration of the Llop Marí cave, one of the wonders of the Catalan coast.
