The Valle de la Zafán Greenway takes advantage of an old railway line that linked Aragó with Tortosa. Today it has become the longest and most iconic Greenway in Catalonia, a natural and cultural route designed to be enjoyed with family and friends. A route where you can enjoy Mediterranean landscapes, the Ports de Beseit natural park, the Canaletes river and the Ebro river.
The route climbs through long tunnels and monumental bridges, and stops at the old train stations, now converted into bars and terraces. There is also a chance to cool off with a swim in the natural pools at the geological wonder that is La Fontcalda Sanctuary.
The usual starting point of the Greenway is in Horta de Sant Joan, the leading tourist destination in Els Ports and the headquarters of Montsport, a benchmark company in the area. They offer a complete and competitive rental and transport service for the Via Verde – Greenway, as well as other cultural and sports activities to discover the Els Ports Natural Park.

Montsport offers all kinds of logistical possibilities and the necessary equipment to enjoy the Vía Verde in total comfort, all kinds of bicycles, mountain, tandem, MTB, for children, families and groups, as well as electric bikes. New this year are the TEAMbikes. In addition, they have a fleet of six vans to pick you up and return to Horta at the end of the route.
Montsport experiences
Although the Greenway is the most usual activity in Terres de l’Ebre, Montsport also organizes other activities, sports, cultural and gastronomic experiences, ideal for couples, friends and families. Highlights include the cultural tour to discover Picasso & Horta, canyoning in the Matarranya River, and wine tourism to taste the products of the area, such as DOP oil and DO Terra Alta wine.
